{"id":320,"date":"2024-10-07T12:00:19","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T19:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dejal.com\/blog\/?p=320"},"modified":"2024-10-07T12:00:19","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T19:00:19","slug":"go-home-at-end-of-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dejal.com\/blog\/go-home-at-end-of-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Can I have Time Out remind me when to go home at the end of day?"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p><\/p>\n<p>I received a customer query asking if it was possible to have a countdown in the menubar for remaining time in the work day.<\/p>\n<p>They wanted a \u201cGo Home\u201d reminder, that was used daily except weekends, and started work at 7 AM and finished at 3 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Time Out is very flexible, so I was able to configure this for them. Here\u2019s a screenshot of the <strong>Break Schedule<\/strong> page:<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Time Out schedule page\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dejal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/UntitledImage.png?resize=579%2C435&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Time Out schedule page\" width=\"579\" height=\"435\" border=\"0\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>An explanation of the options:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Break for 1 minute<\/strong>, just as a token reminder of the end of day; it could be any length, or even zero to use a <strong>Break Action<\/strong> like a notification instead of dimming the screen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Every 1 day<\/strong>, to have a daily repetition.<\/li>\n<li><strong>From Fixed Time 0 minutes past the hour<\/strong>, to align the due time to the hour (not essential, since it is ignoring idle time, but tidier).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Available Between 15:00 and 07:00 on MTWTF<\/strong>, these are the most important options, to have the break start at 15:00 (3 PM) and end at 07:00 (7 AM) \u2014 yes, it\u2019s totally fine to have the end time earlier than the start time. And to only use this on weekdays.<\/li>\n<li>As you can see, the <strong>next due<\/strong> time is at 15:00 (3 PM).<\/li>\n<li><strong>When taking a natural break\u2026 Continue Countdown<\/strong>, to ignore idle time.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>reset<\/strong> and <strong>skip<\/strong> options are off, to avoid adjusting the due time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>When this break is due Start Immediately<\/strong>, this could be any option; asking to start might be useful if you need a few minutes to finish off what you\u2019re doing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>And of course to have the countdown in the menubar, you\u2019d include that option on the <strong>General<\/strong> page, possibly including the <strong>Only include long breaks<\/strong> option to not show any micro-breaks during the day:<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"General options\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dejal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/UntitledImage-2.png?resize=480%2C369&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"General options\" width=\"480\" height=\"369\" border=\"0\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p>I hope this helps others who want something similar!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I received a customer query asking if it was possible to have a countdown in the menubar for remaining time in the work day.
