Notifier Info
Options
The Options page of the Notifier Info pane lets you specify how this notifier should be categorized: for changes, for failures, for recoveries, or some combination, as described below:
Change: Check this box if this notifier is appropriate for changes. This will simply make it appear in the Change pop-up menu in the Notifiers page of the Test Info pane, so it can be chosen as a change notifier for any tests.
- after [] consecutive changes: Enter how often to report changes. If the entered value is 1, this notifier will be use every time tests that use it notice a change. If 2 is entered, the notifier will be used every second time. And so on. If you have a test checking frequently, and the site tends to change often, you may only want to hear about it occasionally.
Failure: Similar to the Change checkbox above, this indicates that this notifier can be used for failures, e.g. when a site goes down.
- after [] consecutive errors: Enter how often to report errors. Similar to the field for changes, this field controls how often to report a failure. Using a larger number will give the site a chance to recover before reporting the error -- useful for an email notifier.
Only notify once for each failure: If this box is checked, the failure is only reported once. It won't notify again until the site is back up.
Recovery: Similar to the Change checkbox above, this indicates that this notifier can be used for recoveries, e.g. when a site comes back up after a failure.
- after [] recoveries: Enter how often to report recoveries. Normally you'd probably want to leave this at 1, so every recovery is reported, but you can set it to a higher value if you only occasionally want to know when a site comes back up.
Only notify if failure notified: If this box is checked, the recovery is not reported if there hasn't been a failure notification of the same kind. This allows a brief outage to be ignored by the failure and recovery notifiers, if desired.
