Simon User Guide
Preview Window for Web (HTTP)
Display the Preview window by clicking on a test and choosing the FilePreview menu command, or the Preview toolbar button. This is the Preview window for the Web (HTTP) service; other services are a little different, if they support previews.
This window is useful to get a quick overview of the site, including images. It displays exactly as it would in a web browser, thanks to the Safari web engine. It also includes the HTML source in the upper text area for comparison when hunting for text to look for with the Smart Change Detection feature. As with the Source window, a splitter bar between the two text areas allows you to change the proportion of each that is displayed, and at the bottom of the window is a display of the time that the page was cached, the content type, and server result code, plus a progress bar that is used while loading.
URL: This displays the location of the page or file being viewed. You can enter a new URL directly in this field if you wish; press Return to load it. If the URL has been cached, the cached copy is loaded, otherwise it is fetched from the server (and added to the cache).
Source: This text area displays the HTML source of the page, as returned by the web server.
Page: This text area displays a graphical representation of the web page, including text and images. You can click the hyperlinks to load other pages, as you might expect.
