Break control panel
During a break, the screen(s) slowly fade over the number of seconds specified on the Break Controls page, and the chosen themes and floating control panels appear.
If you have multiple displays on your Mac, each uses the themes and background configured on the Themes page. A control panel appears on every display, with the same progress, controls, and messages. Each display remembers its own panel position between breaks.
Actions can be performed when a break is due, fading in, fading out, and other times. See the Actions page for more information.
Break themes use HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other web standards to display content during the break. Learn more about themes.
The control panel is a small floating window that appears over the theme, with a progress bar and optionally buttons to postpone or skip the break. The available buttons remain centered when some are hidden. You can move the control panel anywhere on the screen, and the position will be remembered for next time.
The Control panel option on the Controls page can keep the panel visible, show it initially then fade it out, or hide it initially until you move the mouse. With automatic hiding, panels fade out after 5 seconds of inactivity; keeping the pointer over a panel keeps them all visible.
Actions set to When Button Clicked appear below the standard controls, in the order set on the Actions page. Long titles and extra buttons wrap into additional rows, with scrolling for larger sets. Click a button to run its action without postponing or skipping the break. It shows progress while running, a checkmark after completion, or any reported error. You can run it again when it finishes; indicators reset for each break.
An occasional brief Message from Dejal may appear in the control panel. It doesn't pause, extend, postpone, or otherwise change the break. Click the message to show the full article after the break ends, or point at it and click the X to dismiss it.
The buttons to postpone the break by a few minutes, or skip this break, can be customized on the Controls page; either disabled entirely, or the number of minutes changed for the postpone buttons, or have the buttons appear disabled for a few seconds, to give you a moment to ensure you really want to postpone or skip.
Below the buttons can be displayed (via an option on the Controls page) the number of times this break has been postponed or done, and the number left (if limited).
When the break comes to an end, it fades out again (or immediately disappears if you postpone or skip). If Show button to end break when done is enabled on the Controls page, the break instead remains displayed, the right-hand time counts upward, and an End Break button appears. Click it when you're ready to finish.
