Break Themes page
The Themes page of the Break page in the Settings window is where you choose what to display during each break. In version 3.2, it replaces the theme options previously on the Appearance page.
The list shows themes with thumbnails and descriptions. Click a theme to select it for the chosen display. Click its info button or choose Get Info from its Options menu to see its description, creator, and version information. Click Preview to try an installed theme on the selected display.
Using themes other than Icon is a supporter reward; you can try other themes for a while before supporting Time Out.
Get and manage themes
Click Get beside an uninstalled theme to download it from Dejal within Time Out. The catalog can offer new and updated themes independently of app updates. Installed local themes work offline; website and YouTube themes require an internet connection. Locally edited themes are preserved when a catalog update replaces them.
New installations include Icon and the Dejal blog themes; you can get other themes as needed. Existing installed themes are retained. The catalog also includes Sinclair Trails Photos and Sinclair Trails Photos & Map, showing a random scenic travel photo for each break, with a small location map in the latter when available.
The page's options menu includes Show Installed Themes, Show Uninstalled Themes, and Show Hidden Themes to choose which themes are listed. Choose File > Reload Themes to refresh the catalog and installed themes.
Each theme's Options menu includes Duplicate Theme... to make your own copy, Edit Theme... for editable custom themes, and Hide Theme or Unhide Theme. Hiding a theme removes it from the usual list without uninstalling it. Choose Uninstall Theme... to remove a downloaded theme, which can be downloaded again later, or Delete Theme... to remove a custom theme, with confirmation. Icon remains available as the default; removing the last selected theme falls back to Icon.
Click Add (+) to create a custom theme in the theme editor. Built-in themes must be duplicated before editing. Reveal Themes opens the themes folder in the Finder.
Displays and theme rotation
If you have multiple connected displays, use the display chooser to configure each separately. It shows the selected themes for each display. Settings are retained when a display is disconnected, ready for when it returns; an unconfigured display uses Icon.
Choose one theme, or select several and use In Order to rotate through them alphabetically or Random to choose a theme for each break. Theme rotation is a reward for recent supporters.
None shows the control panel without dimming the display or showing theme content. Blank dims the display without graphics or text.
Background effects
Background: Choose the background color and opacity for the selected display. Some themes cover the background with their own content.
Effect: Choose Fixed Color to use the selected color, Random Hue for a new hue each break while retaining the color's saturation, brightness, and opacity, or Blurred for a visual effect behind the break. Adjust the background color's opacity to control the blurred appearance. Effects can be configured separately for each display; Random Hue and Blurred are rewards for recent supporters.
