Dejal Open Source License

This is the license agreement for Dejal open source code (don't worry, you're allowed to use it in your own products, commercial or otherwise).

Note: If you need a non-attribution license for any Dejal code (for a fee), please see the Using Dejal Code Without Attribution section below.

The Dejal open source code uses the standard BSD 2-Clause License.

The license text is further down this page, and you should only download and use the source code if you agree to the terms in that text. For convenience, though, here is a human-readable non-authoritative interpretation of the license which will hopefully answer any questions you have. Basically, the license says that:

  1. You can use the code in your own products.
  2. You can modify the code as you wish, and use the modified code in your products.
  3. You can redistribute the code (with or without modifications), but you have to include the full license text below.
  4. In all cases, you must include a credit mentioning Dejal as the copyright holder of the source.
  5. Dejal is not liable for anything you do with the code, no matter what. So be sensible.
  6. If you agree to all of that, go ahead and download the source. Otherwise, don't.

Using Dejal Code Without Attribution

The Dejal source code license agreement requires attribution, but we're aware that some people need a license agreement which does not require attribution. If you're in that situation, we can help: we have set up an online store where you can quickly and easily buy a non-attribution license to the various source code components. The online license store can be found here.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

Suggested Attribution Format

The license requires that you give credit to Dejal as the copyright holder of any of the code that you use. The placement and format of the credit is up to you, but we prefer the credit to be in the software's "About" window or view, if any. Alternatively, you could put the credit in the software's documentation, or on the web page for the product. The suggested format for the attribution is:

Includes "Name of Code" code from Dejal.

where "Name of Code" would obviously be replaced by the name of the specific source-code package you made use of. Where possible, please link the text "Dejal" to the Dejal Developer web page, or include the page's URL (http://www.dejal.com/developer/).
