I'm pleased to announce a pre-release TestFlight of Recal, my app to edit calendar events, event templates, track event time, and easily move, delete, or condense events; available for macOS, iPadOS, iOS, visionOS, and now watchOS!
Version 2.0 includes some major improvements:
Apple Watch app
- Added an Apple Watch companion with Quick Events, calendar and date range pickers.
- Add, edit, and delete events on your Watch, including template-value selection and date and time wheels. Changes are saved and confirmed by your paired iPhone.
Automatic calendar refreshing
- Event lists on Mac and iPhone now refresh automatically when events are added, edited, or deleted in Calendar or synced from another device.
- The Watch list also refreshes when the iPhone detects calendar changes while the Watch app is open and connected.
Presets
- Added named presets for each utility to save and recall all filters, calendars, and utility options from the Inspector.
- Adjusted presets are marked Modified; use Update Preset to save changes or Revert Changes to restore the saved settings. Presets can also be renamed or deleted.
- Relative date ranges, such as Last Month, stay up to date, while Custom ranges preserve their exact dates.
Calculate Hours grouping
- Added a Group By Inspector option to organize Calculate Hours results by date, week, month, or title.
- Title groups are sorted alphabetically and show event dates in their rows.
- Group headings can select or deselect all events in the group, and group footers summarize event counts, selected hours, and costs.
- Added Edit → Copy Summary (Shift-Cmd-C) to copy grouped Calculate Hours totals and a grand total as text.
Calculate Hours rounding
- Added a Rounding popup below Hourly Rate in the Inspector, with None, Whole, Nearest 5, Nearest 10, Nearest 50, and Nearest 100 options.
- Rounding applies to each event's cost. Group totals, the grand total, and Copy Summary sum those rounded amounts without further rounding.
Settings
- Added Open at Login in Settings on macOS to automatically open Recal when you log in.
- Added anonymous analytics to help improve Recal, sharing app and system information, feature choices, and activity counts without calendar content or personal information. You can turn this off with Share Anonymous Analytics in Settings.
Other changes
- Title filters now support multiple terms separated by commas, such as
email, invoice. Matching conditions accept any term; Doesn't Contain excludes titles containing any term. - Added tooltips explaining title filtering and other utility controls, including dates, calendars, presets, grouping, hourly rate, and move options.
- Quick Events now includes date presets for past date ranges, as well as future ones.
- Multi-day all-day events now appear on each covered date in Quick Events and Move Events.
- List selection controls now show empty, mixed, or complete selection states.
- Edit → Select All works with utility lists on all supported platforms with a keyboard.
- Event and hour summaries now use correct singular and plural wording.
